Emily Nicholl
Emily discovered acrobalance 4 years ago in the sun on the meadows. Since returning to it she has been re-discovering the joys of flying. She has a growing appreciation for developing a holistic understanding of our bodies in order to push ourselves physically and creatively. She has huge enthusiasm for the energising and empowering qualities of acrobalance, enjoying intensive training and exchanges with other acrobats, dancers, gymnasts, yoga, circus and physical theatre practitioners. She can often be found balancing on one foot or upside down practicing handstands wherever possible. Emily has trained with Mimbre, Vertigo Circus School (Torino), Fons Benink and tePOOKa in addition to a year's dedicated training with current acrobalance partner Ben Collis. Experience includes volunteering on tour with NoFitState Circus, performances with Edinburgh Performers, Beltane Fire Society, Voice Box Circus and Niko Douwes. She teaches weekly at Aerial Edge (Glasgow) and leads workshops in various other contexts such as for breakdancers, gymnasts and at acrobatic conventions Europe wide. Together with Ben, Emily is currently developing a narrative acrobalance routine in collaboration with live improv musicians Sink. |
